The Tribit StormBox Flow is a compact, rugged “can-take-it-anywhere” speaker that’s easy to use and can be adjusted via an app to suit your sound preferences.

Hardware

Included in the package are a USB-C charging cable, a carrying strap, and an instruction manual; an app for both Android and iOS is available online. The speaker itself weighs 660 grams and measures a pocket-friendly 20 x 9 x 5.2 centimeters.

Encased in sturdy plastic, the front and back are dominated by speaker grilles. Behind the grille on the front sits an unspecified driver, flanked by a passive radiator, while a bass reflex vent is located at the rear. On the top, you can easily feel the control buttons: one side features a USB-C port, and the other houses the carrying strap holder. Rubberized feet on the underside and back ensure that the speaker can be used both standing and lying down without slipping.

The Tribit StormBox Flow delivers an output power of 25 watts, with a battery life of up to 30 hours. Its IP67 certification guarantees protection against dust and dirt and makes it waterproof even when fully submerged – ideal for outdoor use in wind, rain, and even at pool parties.

Functionality & Operation

The Tribit StormBox Flow uses Bluetooth version 5.3, which provides a range of over 40 meters in open space and can easily cover two rooms indoors. Although Tribit remains tight-lipped about the supported codecs, pairing is straightforward. Simply press the Bluetooth button on the top of the speaker to connect, and multipoint pairing works seamlessly with multiple sources.

All transport functions are controlled via a central start/stop button on the speaker, accompanied by two volume buttons. An EQ button allows you to recall preset sound profiles, while a TWS button lets you pair two StormBox Flow speakers to form a true stereo set. Once paired, pressing the TWS button again switches the speakers into party mode, where they deliver double the power to boost the mood.

Additional functions are managed through the dedicated app. The app provides six EQ presets along with a custom setting area that lets you adjust nine bands and save your settings. You can also set a shutdown timer, install firmware updates, and determine which presets are accessible via the EQ button on the device.

Battery & Charging

The internal battery has a capacity of 4800 mAh, powering the Tribit StormBox Flow for up to 30 hours – or 24 hours when the XBass function is enabled. Additionally, the speaker can serve as a power bank for your phone if its battery is more than 50% charged.

Sound Performance

Sonically, the Tribit StormBox Flow deliver a solid, balanced sound for their size, though they can be a bit lacking in treble. The Flat EQ setting produces impressively strong bass up to just above medium volume, accompanied by robust midrange support. However, as the sound level increases, clarity and brightness in the transition from midrange to treble can diminish, resulting in a slightly flat mix.

The XBass function further boosts the already strong bass when paired with the right music – though it’s advisable not to push the volume into the final third, as this can collapse the balance between bass, mids, and highs. If you prefer a less bass-centric sound, you can adjust the 9-band equalizer to achieve a more refined sound profile.

Overall, the Tribit StormBox Flow sounds best at low to medium volumes, where it is warm, unobtrusive, yet still punchy. An integrated microphone ensures that phone calls are handled adequately, provided you remain close enough to the mic for clear transmission.

Conclusion

For around 80 Euros, the Tribit StormBox Flow offers well-constructed hardware that’s built to withstand harsh outdoor conditions such as water and sand. Clever features like the charging function, multipoint connectivity, and a solid selection of sound presets—including a 9-band EQ and a robust app—make the StormBox Flow a compelling choice. Sonically, it is more detailed and powerful than many competitors, even though it may lack brightness and freshness in the highs. Just be cautious about turning the volume too high to maintain balance. Ideal for pool parties, small outdoor gatherings, or even indoor use, the Tribit StormBox Flow delivers sufficient volume and sonic power to set the perfect mood.
