TaoTronics TT-BH060

Bass-Driven Bluetooth Over-Ears with Good Sound and ANC

In a nutshell

If you are looking for inexpensive Bluetooth headphones with Active Noise Cancelling for everyday use, the TT-BH060 from TaoTronics are the right choice. The adaptable over-ears fit well, look robust and offer a bass-driven sound that covers a broad musical spectrum thanks to its sound quality. A rechargeable battery with quick charge function and the integrated microphone with background noise suppression enhance the user’s experience.

The TaoTronics TT-BH060 wireless over-ears feature ANC, Bluetooth 5.0 support, a fast-charging battery, and a noise-cancelling microphone, all at an attractive price. Good sound quality, wearing comfort and functional device control are, therefore, not to be renounced.

These over-ears are made of a mix of materials consisting of plastic, metal and an artificial leather upholstery, all giving a robust impression. There is also nothing to criticise about the workmanship. The joints of the foldable construction and rotating headphone shells run smoothly, and the size adjustment of the earpiece is metallically reinforced, which is good for longevity. The oval-shaped shells are not straight, but slightly slanted in order to cover the ears precisely. On the one hand, this provides good shielding; at the same time, however, a certain amount of heat buildup will have to be accepted. Overall, the construction offers a high degree of adaptability and a comfortable fit without pressure problems. The headphones are only recommended to a limited extent for children, as they are quite large and only fit adults with a narrow head shape at the smallest setting.

With active noise suppression, the over-ears can run for up to 15 hours, while without ANC they can run for up to 24 hours. When the battery is empty, the quick charge function can be used, which allows up to two hours of use after five minutes of charging time when using a 2A USB wall adapter. Since there is also a 3.5 mm audio input, wired use is also possible as an alternative to Bluetooth operation. In addition to the USB charging cable, the accessories include a corresponding mini-jack cable with gold-plated plugs.

Device Control

The wireless headphones support the Bluetooth standard 5.0 and offered stable ranges of up to twelve metres in the field test in urban buildings with various Android and iOS devices. Linking is done by holding down the power button on the right headphone shell, which turns the system on and puts it directly into pairing mode. When a radio connection is established, the button can also be used to control the Play/Stop function and to accept and end telephone calls with a simple press. Since the over-ears are equipped with CVC 6.0 noise reduction for the integrated microphone, speech intelligibility is good even when the background is busy. Volume control, on the other hand, can be done via a separate plus and minus button, which can also be used to select a title by holding down the button and jumping to the next track using the plus sign.

Sound

The sound of the TT-BH060 is quite clear, does not tend to exaggerate and – despite the accentuated bass tuning – it is well balanced, offering a present midrange and treble. A direct start and the compact, but not-too-narrow stereo stage convey vibrancy, making listening to music fun, especially since the over-ears have a high output, which offers sufficient reserves for loud environments. In view of their good sound quality, the Bluetooth headphones represent convincing all-rounders with a powerful bass foundation.

The ANC mode, which can be activated via a separate switch, was also convincing because even more complex ambient noises, such as road noise, can be skilfully reduced, which is a respectable result in this price class. The lower frequencies noticeably lose weighting, which shifts the presence to the upper bass range. At the same time, the clarity increases and the sound appears slimmer, brighter and more treble-heavy. The sound quality, on the other hand, is not impaired, so that noise suppression is a tried and tested means of minimising background noise.
