The Kygo E4/600 headphones are well suited for everyday use, both in the office or on the train. In terms of sound, they are solid all-rounders that feel at home in all music styles. Only when it comes to audiophile Hi-Fi do they have to stand in line behind other headphones – but that’s no big surprise considering the price. Nevertheless, they sit well ahead in their segment and leave little room for improvement.
The wireless E4/600 is Kygo’s mid-range in-ear headset with Bluetooth.
The package available includes different large silicone attachments, as well as a soft carrying bag and a USB cable. The headphones make a high-quality impression. The earbuds are made of metal and offer a pleasant weightiness, while the cable that runs around the neck and connects both receivers is well balanced so that it doesn’t pull to one side.
A three-button system allows you to control the music on a paired phone or computer, and the standard options are available here: Track change, volume and the ability to accept calls. In order to mitigate the danger of losing the headphones, the classic magnet construction in the two earbuds ensures that they stick to the headphones and can be worn around the neck like a chain when not in use. The battery performance is also impressive – this tiny Norwegian in-ear headset offers a not-insignificant six hours or so of runtime. Not something you can complain about given the size.
Sound Character
The Kygo E4/600 headset is aimed at a young audience who are looking for headphones that are suitable for everyday use and perform well in all musical styles. With their very direct sound and a decent amount of pressure, the in-ear headphones offer a solid foundation – with a corresponding emphasis on the lower mids and the bass range.
With pop and jazz, you might want a little more impulse fidelity and there tends to be a spongier sound in dense arrangements. For more finely resolved musical styles, the headphones could stand to bring a little more presence to the upper registers. For bass-oriented music, however, this is not a shortcoming. Supported by the compact sound stage, the headphones provide plenty of pressure. All in all – and especially in view of the price – the headphones cut a more than decent figure. When it comes to the sound quality of telephone calls, the headphones perform very well as the conversations are easy to understand on both sides, even in noisy environments.
